The history of Diamond began in 1958, with the machining of ultra-hard materials and manufacture of industrial jewels, record player styluses, and other high-precision components. The experience gained in these endeavours formed the basis of the company's expertise in precision machining and volume production, expertise which has been systematically expanded and perfected over the years. The demand for diversification led Diamond into the exciting, growth-intensive field of fiber optics, where the company quickly established an internationally-recognized reputation as an innovator.
Since the dawn of mankind, nature has provided models to help explain complex phenomena and relationships. Observation of the principles of nature, and the pursuit of their underlying causes, forms the basis for discovery and innovation. Sometimes, those innovations are even more fascinating than what nature itself has created. Optical fiber technology provides a good example. By taking advantage of the properties of glass, it has become possible to efficiently transport unprecendented amounts of information through hair-thin fibers. Information which has helped make our lives simpler, safer and more enjoyable.

Diamond connectors exclusively use a composite ferrule, consisting of a ceramic ferrule with a titanium insert. This ferule together with Diamond’s patented Active Core Alignment (ACA) process, which tightly aligns the fiber core to the axis of the ferrule, reduces insertion loss values to a minimum. By controlling the tolerances of fiber core eccentricity and angular misalignment, Diamond is able to determine an optical performance class with guaranteed attenuation values within the 0.1db class and this applies also to any randomly combined connectors of this quality class.
As a vertical integrated company, Diamond is one of the few manufacturers with total control over its manufacturing process. Diamond is able to process high-quality ceramic, metal and plastic components, starting from the raw material straight through to the finished product. This system makes it possible to keep the various manufacturing processes under tight control and to guarantee that each single component meets all the quality, reliability and performance standards that are required and expected of Diamond products.
